Chris Corpus, Director of Conservation

Chris Corpus oversees the Dallas Zoo’s strategy for conservation, with a particular focus on supporting community-based conservation efforts. He serves on the board of VETPAW, an organization working to reduce wildlife trafficking and poaching. Chris is also a member of the Texas Crane Council for the International Crane Foundation.

 

Talk: “Can Zoos Help Save Whooping Cranes?”

In 2019, the Dallas Zoo completed the Whooping Crane Center of Texas (WCCT)—a breed-and-release conservation facility designed with help from crane experts and staffed by the Zoo’s experienced bird department. Our goal: to help increase populations of whooping cranes in the wild. Join us to hear an update about the Dallas Zoo's conservation strategy for whooping cranes and the story of our first ever successfully hatched chick!
