Welcome to Turkey Trot 2024

Port A runners would bet their bottom (sand)dollar that you’ve never been to a Turkey Trot as awesome as the island's very own Port A Turkey Trot—a family friendly Tot Trot, 2K, 5K & 10K—made grab-a-postcard-and-write-home worthy by the signature Gobble on the Grand packet pickup and welcome party. This fundraising event has been designed with the whole family in mind and is hosted to support Trinity By the Sea Episcopal Day School. 

All proceeds from the 2024 Port A Turkey Trot and Gobble on the Grand go to sustain programs and provide scholarships for Trinity by the Sea Episcopal Day School, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and the only day school in Port Aransas.

Race Registration

Head on over to Athlete Guild for easy online signup (no signup needed for the Tot Trot) before shirts sell out! The long-sleeved, Comfort Colors (IYKYK) shirts are only a sure-thing for the first 500 registrants so get those digital tailfeathers in gear and sign up today! Starting and ending on the gorgeous Grand Lawn in Palmilla Beach Resort & Golf Community, the race course weaves through the golf greens and parts of the paved Palmilla streets. The 10K-ers will not “take an extra lap,” because, well, where’s the fun in that?

Come For The Trot, Stay For The Fun

While most ‘trots’ are little more than a run, a shirt, and a medal, the Port A version is, oh, so much more. From inflatables for the big kids to a soft play setup for the littles, a s’mores station to a vendor village, your whole holiday crew is sure to have something to do and it won’t matter if the weather is “sweaters” or “swimsuits”. Added bonus: those extra fun add-ons are free for anyone to enjoy and will return the next morning on race day. 

Yes, You Heard Fun Run & It Means FUN Run

…erm, well, fun Trot. The Port A Turkey Trot team adores their dedicated runners, but they've got plenty of trotters and strollers, too, so if a walk along the Palmilla Golf greens (the 5K and 10K get the best Gulf of Mexico and wildflower views) is more your speed then you’re in the right spot. Speaking of, strollers and leashed dogs (don’t forget the bags for the you-know-what) are welcome at Gobble on the Grand. The team does ask that the race course stay pup-free, but trotters of all speeds are welcome to push strollers. Y’all, the team also highly, happily, and wholeheartedly encourage dressing up. Tutus, patterned tights, turkey hats, onesies, and group themes have all made appearances in the past and they cannot get enough of that energy so keep it up! 

Two Words: Food Trucks

You read that right, new this year: FOOD TRUCKS. For the first time, the Port A Turkey Trot will be hosting food trucks from all over the coastal bend to serve Turkey Trot and Gobble on the Grand attendees. They've confirmed burgers, pizza, BBQ, coffee, donuts, and more, so no need to worry about working up an appetite and having to go hungry. The Black Marlin, located in Palmilla, will also be open and serving for those who prefer a restaurant atmosphere.

If you haven’t yet finalized your sleeping arrangements, or, more realistically, you’ve read this far and now realize you just gotta bring the whole family to Port A for Thanksgiving because this whole Turkey Trot & Gobble on the Grand thing sounds too dang fun to keep to yourself, give Best Western or Seaside Boutique Hotel (both generous sponsors of this not-so-little-anymore shindig) a call, mention you’re coming to Turkey Trot, and you’ll get a special discounted room rate.
